i'm not sure but i reckon that the single and double cutaway rockets are totally different geetars.

Harmony had a weird naming system - Rocket, like Stratotone before it, was like a family of models with many varieties, not a single guitar -there are a 10 different Rockets, with an added H number to differentiate them eg the H54 Rocket is this one:



there is a doublecut version, the H54/1. The 70s doublecut is the H654, w/ different pickups.

I have two double cutaway Rockets. One is stock. The other came to missing a pickup so I put the original aside (somewhere... Hope I find it again someday) and bought replacement surface mount pickups from GFS. Both play fine. I really like the sound of the DeArmond mustache pickups. People have told me that the mustache pups are ceramic and the earlier ones are alnico and sound better. I don't know. The biggest problem I have is tuning stability, which I suspect has a lot to do with the whammy bridge. I've considered replacing mine with trapeze tailpieces.
