Hi Dooze and welcome to the Forum.

I really don't have any experience working with Lucite so I can't be of much help there. Intuitively it seems like you would progressively sand with lighter and lighter grades of sandpaper and then switch to polishing compound and a buffer until all the surface scratches were buffed out. But having not tried this firsthand, I don't know whether this technique would actually work or not. If the paint reacted with the lucite in a way that clouded the plastic, this defect may never come out.

As you look for hardware you might find it useful to see the original hardware on the guitar. The Dan Armstong website has pictures of Lucite copy guitars as well as originals.

Good luck, hopefully someone will stop by that knows more than I about this business. If you decide to start the restoration, take some pictures so we can see your progress. Your experience with the project may help other lucite owners with their instruments.

Bonus! I found the tuning keys for it. I'm going to restore it but it'll be custom since I can't find original parts for it. Thanks for the link. With enough good photos, I should be able to get it close. I started to refinish the body but I doubt I'll be able to get all of the blemishes out. I'm looking forward to playing it though.

I sanded an area on the back and I think it's going to look ok when I'm done. I had to go deeper than I would have liked though. The hard part will be getting a nice finish on the cut aways and electrical space. Also, I found that I can get the parts I need!

Can anyone confirm, when wiring a lucite body with a non-tremelo bridge, does the ground wire get connected to the underside of the bridge plate or screw? This lucite body does not have a channel for the wire....I'm guessing that it lays on top of the body but under the pick gaurd.

Almost complete! I'm waiting on some replacement tuners from Stewmac and a bridge from St. Louis guitar.
I started with this.
