okay this decca was hidden in my friends shop class and his teacher gave it too him along with the bridge and pick guard. We tried doing some research but have come out with nothing satisfying or helpful except that we are guessing its the earlier tiesco made for Decca due to the neck truss rod, pick-ups, and whammy that can be compared to actual tiesco guitars.
The pick-ups are very attractive and completely intact, but they have not just the two positive and negative wires, but also a third white ground wire which is different i suppose.( i have limited knowledge of guitar tech, so please bare with the nube here).and there are no other electric components. so, Any recomendations or things i should know before trying to rebuild the controls? And also the neck is apparently damaged beyond repair due to my friends shop teacher going happy on the truss rod, and the lacquer is cracked on the back of teh neck so i'm hoping to replace the neck, i got an old gibson neck from another friend that bought it at a garage sale, and its shape and size is very similar. so anything i should know about trasplanting necks? thanks , really appreciate it. and nice site, its been helpful this far. sorry if this seems like a rant

I agree that your guitar was probably built by Teisco for Decca. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up in any of my Decca literature.

The body shape looks essentially like a Teisco EP series guitar. Here is a picture of an EP-8T I sold a few years ago.


Be careful about putting too much time/money into this instrument unless you consider rebuilding it a hobby and don't mind having more invested than it is worth. You can pick up EP series Teiscos fairly easily on eBay, you may want to check to see what they currently sell for.

If your guitar were mine, I'd seriously consider selling off the parts and taking that money to buy an unmolested EP. Frequently, the total value of the parts on these guys exceeds what anyone is willing to pay for an intact guitar. You could probably come close to raising enough money from your parts sale to buy a different EP.

Of course, if the joy of the guitar is tinkering with it, ignore what I just said and have fun.

So, this is an unkown "delux" 3 pick-up Decca hollow body. Do you know if Teisco made custom guitars for Decca? Well hey, thanks for your advice, but this is a sweet looking guitar and but i don't want to regret not keeping in the future without knowing its potential to be a decent guitar, and it looks really nice with the three pick-ups. and its a garantee that i won't come by one of these babies again. it seems to be the only 3 pick-up version on the planet so far. and the only real money that will be spent will be on electronics. the guitar was a "finders keepers" freebee. and the gibson neck that will replace the original cost me 10 bucks and would fit and sound properly with out alter to the body. i plan on not ridding with this one, unless its worth a fortune as is. which is doubtful. but i would gladly yeild it. but thanks for your advice. i definitly considered it.
