I'm about to purchase what seems to be a rather nice Hondo 935 Deluxe 335 copy, but before i take the plunge, does anyone have any info regarding this guitar?
The owner claims it's from 1981, would that make it MIJ or MIK ?
It has the circular style logo on the headstock and covered pickups.

Your Hondo 935 first appears in the 1981 Hondo Catalog. Unfortunately this catalog features both MIJ and MIK instruments so I can't say for sure where your guitar may have been produced.
Most likely MIK given the documentation on other instruments in the catalog and the fact that few were produced in Japan, but the origin is certainly fuzzy.

If you Google "Hondo 935 Deluxe" you'll find some saying that they were made in Korea and some that say made in Japan. In one of the reviews on Harmony Central, the poster says "Manufactured in 1981 the inside body sticker indicates Korea as manufactor."

I just picked up a Hondo 757 Deluxe Tele copy last weekend (absurdly cheap!) - there's no country of manufacture anywhere on it and that makes me inclined to think it's MIK.
Quality looks excellent, though & do think that by the late 70s/early 80s the good Korean stuff was pretty much on a par with Japan.

I don't see anyone on the net saying anything but great things about their Korean made Deluxe. From what they say,these were a top of the line build.Excellent workmanship and great sound and playability. Here's a picture of a real beauty,flame top cherry burst finish.

The model is HONDO Series II 935 Deluxe.
I have to say, it's every bit as impressive as has been suggested on various forums. Build quality equals if not outdoes my Electromatic and the neck angle is spot on.
The pickups aren't great but the seller included some from an Epiphone SG in the sale.
This is a LOVELY guitar!
