Northern guitars?

I came across this local listing:

I haven't been able to find any info on this brand on the net and was wondering if it's worth the $500 price tag. It looks like a beautiful guitar though.

Found a bit of info about Northern guitars on this Canadian guitar forum.



Certainly is a very nice looking guitar,but I for one could not say whether or not it's worth the $500 asking price.

Thanks for that link. Interesting that the last post on that thread is about a 335 copy that the poster wasn't too fond of. I wasn't really sure that I'd offer the guy anything for the guitar. I might wait until after the new year and see if he re-lists it. I guess it wouldn't hurt to go see it.

If it had a rosewood neck instead of the maple, I'd be more tempted. I'm not sure how that maple would sound on a semi-hollowbody like that.

Northern guitars have come up for discussion on the www.matsumoku.org forums a few times. On the whole they seem to be very good quality instruments, built by Kasuga Gakki - as is this 335.
