I got this guitar at a flea market at least 15 years ago. Masada is hard enough to find information on but I have never seen so much as a reference to this model. Can't even find a reference that Masada made a hollow body electric.

The neck plate only says "Made in Japan." There is no other information on the guitar and I see nothing in the f-hole. Nothing on the tuner covers.

It recently fell off it's stand and cracked the neck such that tuning all strings at once is impossible. Guitar shop said it's not worth fixing while simultaneously telling me they knew nothing about it. I'm going to try to put an aftermarket LP neck on it. *shrug*

Any information about this guitar and/or Masada would be awesome.

Thanks, all.
Robert

Can't help with any information on the guitar, but gluing the crack yourself would be really easy.

Just get a couple of cheapo G clamps from your local hardware store, and a bit of woodglue (not superglue...) and stick it all back together. There's plenty of further info online, but it's really piss easy.

I snapped the headstock clean off one of my guitars and sorted it. Luckily for me it doesn't really take much skill!

Hi Robert.

I have no idea who the distributor Masada is, but I do have an idea of who may have built your guitar. I've tried to lighten your pictures a bit, but I still can't see the detail needed for a more confident ID.

To me, it appears your guitar may be a rebranded Greco. Here is a picture of a Greco EG-200 from 1968. Your guitar appears to share several characteristics with this instrument. First, the tailpieces are the same/similar. It also appears the the pickups might be the same/similar. From what I can see, the neck inlays appear to be the same style.

So, far from a positive ID but it might get you started.

The pickups appear to be the same as on my hollow body, which was more or less id'ed as an Aria, distributed by Univox, or perhaps a Ventura.

The thread is here:

So I don't know that you can draw much of a conclusion from the pickups, as they were apparently used on several different guitars in that time frame, probably all from a common supplier. These have rectangular pole pieces on the slug coils, sort of unusual I thought, until folks started posting photos of guitars similar to mine.

Yep, part of the Greco family. This particular range of models was sold under quite a few obscure brands. For example, I have the bass version of this thing called Atlas.
