Hondo II LP Jr. Copy - Any Informaiton on it?

I got this guitar from a neighbor about a year or two ago along with an amplifer and a bass guitar. This was all just because he saw me jaming with some frends in my garage and thought I was good, lucky me! Anyways, I looked up the brand and found mixed reviews, some said they were made of plywood and were junk, and others said they were made of true tonewoods and of good quality, which confused me so I decided to keep looking and that brought me here, and upon some reading on the fourms I found a bunch of other Hondos but none that looked like mine.

Here's what I know for sure from the previous owner; It was purchased in the early 80's (couldn't remember if he got it new or used), he replaced the original pickup, which he said was "a crappy chrome covered one", and that after he replaced the pickup he had a hum (bad wiring that I fixed), and decided to store it, which is where I got it years later. I also know from more researching that the pickup is one from Carvin made anywhere from 1993 on.

HendrixFan. It is tough to make out much detail from your pictures but from what I see I believe you have a Hondo model H-710 from 1980-81. As you already know, the pup on your guitar is not original and neither are the knobs; everything else I can see looks stock.

One reason you are seeing conflicting reviews on these Hondo IIs is that they came in both a "Professional" series and a "Standard" series. The H-710 is from the Standard series and thus a lower quality instrument.

owned one years ago, cheap plywood guitar, good playing but mine was badly treated so i refinished it into this.

for pickups hondo used dimarzio's at that time, so for the 10 euro i paid for it a bargain.

that guitar has become(due to crooked dealers) an small legend after i sold it, i sold him for 60 euro, after a year the seller sold it on, no bullshitstory's in his ads just an honest sale.
but after that it started, a lot of bullshit story's, like after years of loyal use, completely original, rare ( yes rare in that finish ) topquality etc, etc.
this continued for almost a year by several sellers, the last guy who tried to make a profit with it had it listed on ebay for a whopping 400 euro!
i bet he sold it abroad because every guitarist in the netherlands and belgium already knew the origin of this guitar and the finish.
some of the louche sellers even used photo from my site!!
