cool thanks. as for finishing it i am not trying to make it look old, i mean the actual guitar is covered in stickers and like some residue, thats the main reason i wanted to paint it. i didnt want to make it look old, but if it takes too much effort in the end i guess i will leave it as is.

Pretty hard to say exactly what parts you need for the trem without seeing some good pictures of what you have. Finding the original parts is usually not very easy,so you may have get creative to get it working or replace it with something else,which is sometimes the easiest thing to do. This trem is a popular,period correct replacement that might do the trick. It's also pretty inexpensive.



You should try removing the stickers and cleaning off the residue.You can use naphtha (lighter fluid) as a solvent. It shouldn't hurt the original finish.Test it out on a small,inconspicuous area first.

I can vouch for that trem - really noticeable difference in tone and volume on my del rey - you can see it in . It's cheap, too.

Warm the stickers up with a hairdryer - this should soften the glue & make them easier to peel off.

Does this guitar actually have a Teisco badge? I only ask because these are pretty common in the UK & usually have importer's names or none at all, I've always thought they look "Teisco-ish" but have never seen a branded one to confirm that.

no it doesnt have have an actual teisco logo, it doesnt have anything at all. it actually looks just like a jedson tele copy i saw online.

another quick question, what would be the best way to remove lacquer from the guitar's body? a friend said that it should crack off after scratching it.

Scratch it and it will crack off??? It would be a lot easier for people to give you advice if you would put up some pictures of the guitar. It may very well be possible to fix up the finish without having to completely strip it and repaint it,but there's no way for anyone to know for sure unless they can see it first. Also,since you got this guitar from your wood shop class,why don't you consult with your teacher about the finish?I would assume he knows something about the subject and can help you.
