hello, i picked up this guitar as a project. im awaiting its arrival. i know that its a teisco, but im not sure what model it is, or year. the headstock is so ugly i had to have it. its so unusual, maybe it can help in dating it.

Hey John.

I was looking for something else and ran across your guitar with the original trem unit. Looks like the same stucco background. Have you already seen this one?

thanks spud. the guitar came. its really cool, and ugly. a few problems. one, the switches need to be rebuilt. and second, one of the pickups is dead. that blows. ive never seen one for sale before. they are incased in plastic and need to be cut open. either it will just be a dummy pup until i find one, or ill gut it and shove something else up in there. or a rewind. ???? anyway, its solid wood and its actually routed around the pickups instead of a huge cavity. neck is nice too. so im torn on colors. after a real rough photoshop, here are a few choices. let me know if you like any of them.

hi all,

just some progress on the 440, in case anyone was interested. its been stripped and sanded. I had to fix a lot of rough curves, but i think ive tightened them up a bit.
its a solid body, not sure the type of wood though. I blocked the old trem routs. put on a fresh 9 1/2" radius on the neck. note to self, with fret markers on edges, use a 12" radius. the neck was originally flat, i sanded down a couple of markers. (ill have to airbrush those back on). i like the fender feel, what can i say.
these pictures are in the sanding sealer stage. i gave the fretboard one coat so i can do a light, hand rub poly finish to it. the rest will be nitro cellulose.
all the parts are here except the fret wire. i cant decide between jumbo or strat size. i still have time.

well, i went with blue. i was leaning toward green, but im also rebuilding a strat in that color. dont want too much surf green hanging around. it is in the wet sand and buff stage, but i had to see what it was going to look like. of course a little photoshop to add some missing parts. but they are the parts im using. anyway here is an update. this thing is going to be awesome.

here is one of my basses that was prepped with lacquer. its been like this for 2-3 years. (and its actually played). it looks like its just been oiled. it has no wear and hasnt burst into flames or crumbled yet. plus lacquer is easy to repair if needed. dont get me wrong, id probably never do it to a $4000 gibson, but telling someone to "never ever" do something sounds a little guitar snobish to me. especially on a $100 guitar.
