Hello everybody,

Not exactly vintage but I post it anyway:

In 1998 Akai came out with a publication that looked like an album cover, which was titled 'Nineteen Ninetyseven' also called 'Project 1997'.

On the inside of the 'album sleeve' were photos and descriptions of a line of very impressive (read expensive) looking solid body guitars & basses.

It looked like a very ambitious project but I never saw any of these guitars on the market. At some point I did see a somewhat cheaper looking guitar with the 'Nineteen Ninetyseven' logo on the headstock but it was nowhere near the quality of the models that were in that publication.

Does anyone know what happened to this line of guitars?

Sorry, but I don't know a thing about the "Project 1997" guitars. Hopefully, someone else will. sb
