Hey guys - I finished up that video. This is a Teisco Del Rey with GFS "Surface Mount" P-90s and also the GFS Repro Whammy tailpiece.
That tailpiece is a trip - before I even plugged the guitar in, I could tell the tone was bigger & louder. Pretty amazing, must be using better metal than the Japanese used in the sixties?

Very cool. I put a pair of those pickups on a Harmony Rocket.
Did you also replace the bridge on the Teisco? I've had a much harder time finding bridges that have the correct string spacing than tailpieces.
Did the Teisco have pickups on it when you got it? If so, did you not like them, or just curious what the GFS pups would sound like?

Yes, I used the Guitar Fetish repro bridge - the screw pattern was different, but it did cover up the old holes. Instant improvement in tone, too, I noticed it even before plugging in (I had a working bridge, but if I touched the whammy bar, the high E would break - much better now).
It's really a nice replacement - but you have to use the whole thing, you can't leave the baseplate on and just screw in the tailpiece - not an exact fit (at least on mine). I tried, but all the screws on my baseplate were seized & had to be drilled out. (Would have made me really nervous on, say, a Gibson of the same age - that's what's fun about these things).
For the pickups, I just wondered how the thing would sound with a little fuller range. I have a hollow Teisco (EP-8T) with the same style pickups, and it just sounds gorgeous - you can hear some "before" vids of the solid body Teisco .
On the 8T, there's this subtle sort of "AM Radio" vibe, but it's not "thin" - I think it just pegs a few really fine frequencies that sort of say "old", "motown", "AM Radio" to your subconscious, if you will - hard to nail down. But on the ET-200, just sounded a little harsh, playing loud was like I was using a Big Muff. I thinl the P-90s are very useable - just gotta make the thing play a little better some time.
