Early this am I bought a Burny LP on ebay "by accident". Long story short is I thought my maximum bid was lower and though perhaps I'd "steal it" at a super low price. But I was wrong and paid what in fact I'd actually bid ($750). :?

In pre bid emails, seller said he thinks it's an RLG-85 but isn't sure. Frankly there's a few things in the ad that confuse me.

Admittedly I'm a dumb dumb. Putting that aside, what's your best guess on the guitar that I'll be receiving in terms of model, year, pickups, any other relevant info you want to share.

are there any Burny experts? I mean, there are still many unanswered questions, or unanswerable perhaps, about them. Seems there are plenty of prople who think they`re experts but theres a lot of conflicting opinions out there. Some Burnys had serials some didn`t, some were high end some weren`t, evidently more than one factory was making them, people sometimes go by truss rod cover, not exactly a very accurate way to judge em since thats one of the easiest things to change on a guitar. Soeaking of truss rod covers, I`ve wonder if the one on yours is original, looks like one from Gibson to me. Are the Duncans original or not?...I do know there are MIC Burnys around this city that now come stock with Duncans...very much like the ESP/Edwards. Without pics of the back of yours it`s hard to say...if theres an F serial on the headstock, supposedly those are MIC. I have an old white/cream Burny custom, I know it`s old but I`m not certain of the year...I`ve ballparked it down to late 80s mainly because of the green caps it has which came before the yellow ones I`ve read, it does have small stickers on the pick-up rings that say VH-1 but are they first or second generation? Not sure. I am sure it sounds great, plays the same and thats why I bought it...that and the fact it was $250.oo. Did yours come from a seller in Japan? I would have wanted to see pics of the back before bidding...says they are active p`ups in the sales pitch...means theres a battery cavity on the back? if so, I`m afraid it`s a new model...and if it is, thats about what they sell for in shops here so you didn`t pay too much but I`m not sure if it`s from the `80s or not. You`ll have to look under the hood at the pots to check for dates on them, see whats under the p`ups...mine has a short tenon and sounds great, like I`d hear a difference between long and short tenons but some players only seem to want the long tenons for whatever reason. Might be able to add more once we see pics of the entire guitar after you get it but I can`t say for sure...Burnys are a bit of a mystery...if it sounds good, plays good and is well built...it is good.

I went to the Ferandes site and checked out the current line of Burny guitars. This one looks exact like yours. Not saying yours is a newer one,but perhaps yours is an RLG-55 model, older manufacture.

hope it works out...no shortage of guys taking full advantage of the feeding frenzy underway on older...and not so older... MIJs, in Japan too I mean plenty of natives trying to pass stuff off so be careful out there.

I don't know much about Burny guitars but that one of yours looks like a high-end model to me, with the fret-edge binding.
