Hofner knock-off Bruno electric

saw this guitar in a pawn shop, 6 string electric, black/red sunburst with ivory edging, four pickup made in Japan, Bruno on the headstock. Searched everywhere I could find but found no reference to a Hofner style Bruno anywhere. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about it and whether the price they are asking is reasonable. $399. Hi Jake. It's difficult to say much without a picture of your instrument, but I'm assuming were talking about something like this. I realize this is a bass but is your guitar this style of instrument?



If so, it is very unusual for one of these violins to have four pickups, the standard configuration is two. Assuming the neck is not twisted or warped and the electronics are in good shape I'd say $399 is a fairly reasonable asking retail price for one of these instruments. It's probably at the top end of the price range but given four pickups, I think your pawn shop is being realistic in their price expectations. My hunch is you could haggle the price down by 10 percent or so if you are a serious buyer.

yes it is that style, looks very similar to the conrad and norma style brunos in your gallery except for the color and it is a 6 string, mostly black but with the ivory edging and just a deep red shading from the black to the pickup area. the headstock and neck are of a blond wood, probably maple with a rosewood fingerboard and another interesting feature is that the inlay on the fretboard is lined up under the E string instead of centered on the fret board. Four pickups is extremely unusual. I've seen lots of those Japanese violin bodied guitars with many different brand names on them but have never seen a four pickup version. I can't even remember ever seeing a three pickup version. A picture would be most interesting.
