Thanks Pete. Appreciated.

Yeah, I knew about Fresher, and the company's history. They did a sorta strat version as well. 'Straighter' I think they called it. They come up un US EBay and Craig's List from time-to-time.

Where can I read this book of yours you refer to? Can I buy it?, do you have one to sell?

The other rather oddball JV I have is an '86 E series Squier, Fender Japan. It is one of the 'contemporary series' H/S/S strats so big in the hair days of the 80s. It's a beautiful guitar, with 3 little toggles to do the pups, not a 5-way. I'd like to know more about it too. Here's my HC review, if you are interested:

(scroll down for mine).

Please feel free to keep in touch, as an obvious fellow-collector and enthusiast.

cheers Graeme

those books are in Japanese so I get my wife to translate bits for me when I need em, there are 8 in the electric series and 3 for acoustics...very helpful but even the Japanese authors can`t get all the info they`d like so they include e-mail address and ask readers to send them stuff they may have missed...it`s a never ending learning experience with old MIJs, just so many. I know people sell those books on e-bay, they go for about $30.00 CDN here and not sure how much they sell for on line.

Thanks again sneakypete. Very interesting indeed.

So, what title(s) do I look for?, and I would assume they are not written by 'sneakypete'! So, what is your actual writing name?

be much obliged,

Graeme

they`re called Japan Vintage, printed by Shinko Music...they say Shinko Music Mook...on the top right hand corner but I`m guessing that should be book not mook...proof reading is not very important here evidently. I paid about 3000 yen per mook and don`t know what they go for on e-bay...don`t spend much time there...none actually, I stick to Yahoo Japan.

Don't know who made it, but that guitar was sold by Sears.

You can view the 1983 Sears Christmas Catalog here and than scroll to page 427

Hell , I have one ( I mean the PCB (printed circuit board)) and as I can't resist to take over the schematic I once started with it. But some wires were cutt/lost so it isn't complete . But I was thinking about the headphones : we always presume that they're must be 8 Ohms but would it rather be a much higher value in order not to charge the battery too much ?Perhaps with higher value headphones (100 Ohm or so) the circuit would work just fine ?
About the guitar : it's definately Kay(-like) , made in Korea but the trussrod cover gives Cort away , so not Samick .

Hi, I've got a Kay LP Synth. I'd be willing to sell it to you, but if you're not interested, I'd greatly appreciate if you could help me out. I need to wire in the pickguard, but I'm not sure where to connect the pups and the 9v leads... I'd really appreciate it if you could help!
