Vintage Maier and Brother?? LOL

Well strange enough and in the most obscure way I somehow had a telestar guitar fall into my hands and to my absolute surprise... It is my Maier's kid Twin brother, buy 5 Minutes LOL..

The guitars are a Tele Star and a Maier. The only difference is the Telestar has chrome string pegs and also the neck plate on the TELE sayts "Steel reinforced neck" the Maier says " Made in Japan"

The back of the Headstock of the Telestar says nothing.
The back of the Maier's headstock says "steel adjustable neck". Its a cool gold sticker that says this and the sticker is in cursive.

The guitars have VERY thick necks! The Maier's neck is a little more flat The Tele's is a little more round. But both are SUPER thick! Way thicker than any GLPaul that I have played. I like this

They sound amazing and hold a tune true as any good guitar should.

Very cool pair! Looks like they're in nice shape. People commonly refer to those real thick necks as baseball bat necks. The difference in the neck back profiles can most likely be attributed to the fact that before CNC machining, way more final shaping had to be done by hand,so some more varience on individual guitars of the same exact manufacture is not uncommon.

I own a few of these guitars in various pickup configs, and these are not Kawai, or Teisco. These were made by one of the smaller companies. The Super Astrotones were likely made by this same company. These date to mid 60s, like 64-66. They were the first guitars sold by Telestar, only for a year, and then Telestar dealt with Kawai until the end.
