Hi, I bought an old '67 Teisco del ray semi hollow body that I've been restoring...previous owner had been as well but hadn't touched it in about 15 yrs.
So, I redid the wiring, because when I bought it the pickups weren't connected, but I'm getting a lot of buzzing from the pickups so I think I've done something wrong.
The two pickups are single-coils, but have three wires coming from it...previous owner had to of the three soldered together but now I'm thinking he did this wrong. When I touch the pickup the buzz is really loud, when I don't it's quoted but noticeable. When I touch the ground of the output jack, the buzz almost disappears. I have to touch the strings as well to rid it all.
So, my question is; what should I do with the 3rd wire of the single-coil, is it supposed to be unconnected or connected to ground. How can I tell which wire needs to go to ground or the pickup toggle switch?
Does the bridge need to be grounded somehow? It's not currently.
Lastly the bridge roller bridge is weird....it has rollers the can be screwed left and right that the strings sit on. What is this for, just string spacing? Seems weird.
Sorry for all the questions...I'm lost on many fronts.
