I bought an old SG copy recently in very poor order.
It's branded Sakura, which I see is a brand available today, but this one looks to be late 60's or early 70's judging by the knobs, hardware and general style of the headstock.
The pics below were taken after i had given it a good clean and repaired some cracks in the thin "wings" either side of the neck pocket, where it bolts on - not really structural, but looked bad. There are loads of chips in the lacquer, but that's just road-worn (or where it has been used as a hammer perhaps)
It has some great pick-ups on it, but no markings on them underneath. They do nice and clean to really dirty when turned up
The body is laminated (OK, it's plywood....) but it actually looks really good where you see the layers
It looks very very similar to old Columbuses from the early 70's - the pearl neck inlays looking pretty much identical.
It'sgreat to play, so I will be hanging on to it for a while...
Anyone ever come across one before?
