Any of you know this Samick bass?

Greetings to you all! Thank you for letting me in, seems like it's an oasis of guitar related information. Any of you guys happen to know the exact model of this bass, the production year, or what it's worth today?

Hi Roland.

Samick has been making basses with variations of this body style since the 1980's. As you know, it comes from the Artist series but the number of specific models offered within the Artist series is mind boggling. I don't see a serial number so probably your best chance to date it is through the headstock logo. Samick was always changing their logo so if you find a dated instrument with the same logo you'll at least have a rough production date. With the date in hand, you can find Samick literature that might identify the model.

Alternatively, I have read that Samick will attempt to identify instruments if you send them pictures. I've never tried it by it's probably worth an email.

As far as price, all I see are bolt necks and they don't sell for much:


Your neck thru should fetch more money but I don't really know how much more.

Update. I found the logo in Samick literature dated 1997. They are advertising the logo as "new" so you now have a starting date for production. Your bass is not pictured in the 1997 catalog so you are probably looking at 1998-99. I think the logo changed again in 2000.
