Hello every body, I just moved into a new house and immediatly fell in love with a neglected guitar the people had there.
I bought it off them for cheap and did a bit of research and I think its a teisco but I'm not sure because I cannot find the body shape anywhere.

The raver sticker is just a sticker that's been added at some point.

I would appreciate if you could help me identify what it is.

Here it is:

Looks similar to the 69 Spectrum 2:

Note sure if headstock is quite right..

Found at
http://www.teiscotwangers.com/

go to ID parade, solid body, 2 pick up - down the body:

Thanks, the electrics look very similar but I still can't find that body shape anywhere.
I thought it might be a blues master because of one on ebay at the minute but the body still doesn't look right.

I'm in the uk if that makes any difference, I figure its one of the no names they produced for the uk market.

The bottom half of that one looks similar but the horns near the neck of mine are very similar in size with the one on the bottom only slightly lower/smaller than the one on the top.

Sorry if thats confusing I don't know what those wee pointy bits are called but on my one they are almost like an sg but not quite.

one of the many guitars kawai made, not teisco, i've seen this model a lot, owned a few at some time most likely early or mid 70's.
a lot of kawai guitars for the UK market were branded audition.

this one i owned a few years ago is almost similar to yours, except the headstock and stringguide.

and for a good identification take good pictures of the whole guitar, detail shots only will help when the picture of the whole guitar doesn't ring a bell.

Thanks for the help with this.
So its a Kawai then, your one is in much better condition.

I finally got strings for it but I think I preffered it with the 4 strings it came with, I was shredding on 4 strings for about a week but with 6 it sounds very bluesy which is also good.

Hi teiscorave,

I agree with the Kawai attribution for your guitar; the style and hardware certainly scream Kawai.

However, a few days ago I ran across an instrument that reminded me of your guitar in a 1975 Sears catalog. Check out the picture below and tell me how closely it resembles your guitar. Obviously, the model pictured has a single pup and a set tailpiece rather than a whammy but in other respects, I find it similar to yours. Particularly the sweeping curve of the headstock and the style of the body and pickguard.

The thing that really struck me about the advertisement is that it says the pictured guitar is "Made in Korea". This Sears catalog is from 1975. Does anyone know what company was in Korea producing guitars in 1975? I generally associate Korean guitar production with the 1980's. sb

I can't help with identifying the builder, but what else is interesting is that "Raver" is a brand name.

Over the last year or so, I've seen 3 or 4 Raver branded instruments on UK Ebay (guitars and basses) and the brand is mentioned in Bacon & Day's Guru's Guitar Guide - they say:

"Raver: Japan mid 70s. Cheapo low quality 2 p/up solid".

Which is perhaps a bit harsh!

Jon.

I know this is reopening a very old thread but I came across it by accident only yesterday.

I can shine a bit of light on the guitar in question as I'm 99.9% certain that it was once mine. There are a couple of tell tale pointers (one of which is the bolt where the trem arm used to be and the pattern of scratching around it.)

It's a Rosetti Raver and was purchased from a Kays catalogue for me by my parents in 1974. Interestingly they wouldn't buy me an amp to go withy it and so I lost interest after a bit and finally sold it to a school friend in 77 or 78.

I'd be very interested as to where it's located now as I lived in Headley in Hampshire at the time and my school friend lived somewhere around the Emsworth area.

If you ever want to sell it PLEASE let me have first shout as I'd love to have it back for nostalgia sake.
