Battery powered amp...how can I go to AC?

Hi,

I have a Takt GA-7 amp. It's a 60s-70s Japanese portable guitar amp. Seven-inch speaker. A little bigger than a cereal box. Weighs about a pound. It looks like it runs off about eight D batteries. No AC action at all.

Here's my challenge: Can I possiblt run this off AC? Is there some clever way to attach something to the battery conductors and plug this into the wall (without causing an explosion or just heating up like a reactor)?

Obviously, I'm not a tech, just a guitarist. Any polite suggestions appreciated.

8 batteries is 12 volts, so any 12-volt transformer should work, making sure it's DC.

Ah, but what do I DO with the transformer? All I have is the space and the contacts for two rows of batteries. If I have a transformer...WHERE do I connect WHAT?

You could solder the positive cable from a 12 volt x-former to the place where postive end of the batteries connects and solder the negative to the negative side.
