1960's vox challenger guitar

can anyone tell me what my vox challenger might be worth, its in good condition, missing a scratch plate and bridge cover but apart from that its fine

The Vox Challenger isn't listed in either the Blue Book or Vintage Guitar Price Guides. Don't know what to tell you. sb

i've just been watching one on ebay over here..think it was a challenger but i just deleted it from my history before logging on here..d'oh..it went for about £450 but i've seen them go for a good bit less..have you got a picture?

I was contacted about this guitar also - I told the owner it would top out at about $700. So imagine my shock and surprise when it sold for $720.

Well, as an aside - I offered him $700 outright before he decided to auction it.

This from the 'fetishguitars' website:

"The idea of making a compact florentine semi-acoustic (some kind of inflated SG) was certainly inspirated by Eko. However, instead of the kitschy toylike appearance of the Eko Florentine, Crucianelli chose to give it's guitar an image of seriousness, just enriched by a touch of originality with the Batwing pickguard. The mother-of-pearl inlays and the tasteful lacquer finish exudes high quality craftmanship. All in all, this is a rock'n roll instrument any jazz musician could be seen with without being ashamed."

Unfortunately, the rock and rollers didn't want to be seen with it at all -- !!

So explains why this little gem was overlooked and not really as desirable a VOX instrument as a Teardrop or Phantom.
