What is this?

Hi! I just bought that old guitar at a low price. The seller tought it was a Silvertone, but I'm not sure. It's an old cheap japanese, but I have no idea on the brand and the model, since there is NO information on it (except for a "made in japan" on the plate").

What do you guys think?
Aria? Conrad? Teisco? Silvertone? ...??

Hey Antoine,

I think I've found the brother of your guitar in Bizarre Guitars of the 60's. Unfortunately, if the Japanese can't make a positive ID, there is probably not much hope for us.

Stylistically, it is in the Teisco/Kawai camp but I feel like if it was a Teisco/Kawai, it would have had a positive ID in the book.

It could have easily been marketed in the US as a Silvertone.

The fact that it's not a well-known model means that it's not worth a lot, right? I'll keep it anyways.

Anyways, those pick-ups are realllllly hot, it has a strong personnality and it looks great!

That's a BeeTone. Rare sucker, though definitely not too valuable. But good for playing the "2000 Pound Bee" on

Look at the headstock and see if there are two small pinholes. The BeeTone logo was a small metal oval held by two little nails, easy enough for one to fall off and get lost.
