Hey i just recently acquired this guitar. so far all i know is that it is a japanese made guitar. but other than that i have no info. any help would be appreciated

Looks like some sort of Teisco to me. I've got the same whammy tailpiece on my one of my Kents. I do believe there's a Kent - Teisco connection. I think a lot of the Teisco-made Kays also had that tailpiece.
