i picked up a guitar from a friend, it had no strings and was pretty well beat up. i brought it back to life its a toyota modle 616 acoustic.
i cant find any info on it and in the 30 yrs of playing in groups and around guitars ive never heard of it. any one have any time frame or know any thing about it?

Your Toyota is from the early 1970's. There is a Toyota 615 pictured in the 1971 Toyota catalog I have uploaded to the Catalog Library. Your model 616 was likely made a year or two later.
They were imported from Japan and distributed by Hershman Musical Instrument Co. of New York. I don't think they were widely distributed nationally but given you appear to be from NY state you are in an area where they are most likely to turn up.
