The bridge area has some circular scratches and along with the hole spacing (just under 3") leads me to believe there was no base plate but just 2 threaded rods w/ adjustment wheels. The tailpiece cover probably had a single mounting screw.

I have this old Kawai guitar that's labeled Barth, possibly for Paul Barth as a cheap guitar to sell at his store in the 60's or 70's. It's missing the bridge and tailpiece cover. Does anyone have a good pic of what I'm looking for?

To find those specific parts you'd probably just have to check eBay every few days... for the next few years.
If you're not interested in a perfect restoration, my guess is any Gibson style bridge & tailpiece combo should work.
That's a groovy looking guitar though - if it were mine, I'd get the surface-mount whammy from GFS and a gibson style roller-saddle bridge from the same website. Cost you about $50 total, and that repro whammy would look pretty kickin' with the chrome cover plate. You'd have to drill some bigger holes for the Gibson-style bridge pins I imagine.

Found what's likely the correct style of tailpiece cover in my parts but it has a notch for a whammy bar. At least I have an idea of what I'm looking for.

Cool, hope you find the stuff - Understand your desire to do it "right", the guitar in your pics is everything I love in an old jap electric - unique shape, lots of chrome, and a nicely beaten & crazed sunburst (and a nice three-color burst at that. The paint and the thickness of the wood makes me think this was a higher-end piece).
Those tailpiece covers are often called "ashtrays", might be a helpful search term on the 'nets. Best of luck.
