Teisco Stratocaster Copy

Hi guys,

my first post here !

I have owned this Teisco Stratocaster copy since late 70's, as "third hand" - and since the internet came around I've not yet managed to find any info about it... - No pictures, no production numbers etc. And, its not in your either... afaics.

It's more "true copy" than the Telecaster copy in your galery it seems, to me. Actually it looks like really good quality work, and sounds pretty ok.

So, has anyone some info about this, like;
- What name did Teisco market this modell under ?
- What number was produced of this, and what years ?
- Anything at all ?

It would be nice if someone had any information to provide.

I can take a picture of the guitar lying horisontal if you would like to collect it in your gallery, as this picture is "lying a little" on size of head... just let me know.

EDIT: Actually I do have a Ibanez Hummingbird copy also, which I've bought new, but they are better known - and not quite "an axe"

Maybe there is some relation, let's see.

3 single coil and a 3 way switch is the same at least, and general appearance might not be quite unlike either.

I've removed the back cover as suggested, see picture.

There is no other stamped or printed part ID, on the outside surfaces, nor on the visual part of the tremolo block. I do hope picture is close enough for a judgement of the block.

Now, I've think I have read somewhere that in these years (70's) the Tokyo Electronics Company (Teisco) was owned by Kawai - and that they would make copies for overseas marked and name the copies anything the customer wanted... Well, my guitar was exported to Norway.

But, at least the Teisco name relates it jo Japan, whether it is stamped "Made in Japan" somewhere or not... Unless someone started to make "copies of Teisco copies"

Have a comparative look, and let's know if any more close up's or checks are needed.
