Wow...that's a lot of money, BUT

I can see more reasons for that to sell for a mid-high four figure sum than a similar era strat.

Note the jump from 3k to 6k? I wonder if it sold locally after the cutoff point and it was bid-up to avoid negative feedback? (I know we used to do this at GC back when there was still the Ebay department.)

...but if not... seriously??? 6K???? I mean, its in beautiful shape with the case and candy... but i mean.... I just cannot wrap my heada round a 6k price tag.

Maybe now is a good time to sell my basketcase Spectrum bass haha!!

Wow indeed. Last time I was paying attention to Spec 5 prices they were around $1,500 retail. Looks like the $300 I spent for mine might turn out to be a reasonable investment

Unfortunately, other instrument purchases I have made haven't turned out as well. In 1981 a salesman talked me out of a 70's Jazzbass to buy the latest thing from Leo Fender, a G&L 2000. I special ordered to get exactly the features I wanted. It was my workhorse for 10 years until I decided the weight was just too much. The body is a beautiful chunk of Mahogany but Hevvveeee.

Today the 2000 is worth approximately what I paid for it in 81 while the jazzbass has doubled in value.

So much for buying the latest, greatest thing.
