Right!
The story so far.
Since buying this guitar have never heard the bridge pick up. The man at the shop said it was knackered. Then we found a wire loose and re-soldered to the switch . Then we couldn't hear anything but crackle and hum from either pick up!
Have Unsoldered the bridge (I THINK) and still nothing. Guess I need to test the circuits.

to check the pickups is the easiest part, just solder them one at the time directly to the output, that way you cut out all the other electronics.
but me knowing this type of guitars the pickup switches are mostly the problem.

Have just found this here and it has me wondering if I have inherited a botch up. The wire leading from the volume pot to the tone is coming off the same lug as the wire coming from the pups.
Not sure if it's someone elses idea or theirs. I have never found the tone made a difference on this thing so maybe it's simply been wired wrong.
I've adjusted mcphotos diagram (http://vintaxe.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=2716)to illustrate this but you may be able to see it in the photo above.

did you try using a multimeter to see if there was any resistance on the pickups? if they are trashed, i see those pups on e-bay all the time. i had a pair lying around for a long time before i put them up. they are generally very low output and read around 3k on a multimeter. mine were around 2.8. finding something to fit in hole there might be impossible and you might have to modify the guitar away from its original hardware. id just keep watching the bay.
