Is this Kay guitar made in Japan or Korea?

I got at a local store for $50 with gigbag. Headstock says Kay but it looks more like a Teisco. I saw ithis model in a 1985 Kay catalog but I think they were also made earlier. Know anything about it?

Hi Riotonsunset.

This is a Kay KE-10 and it appears in my 1982 Kay catalog so I guess it was around for a few years. It looks like it was built using old Teisco parts but I don't know if it was assembled in Japan or Korea.

There was a Kay E-100 in the 1973 Kay Catalog. It looks like it has the same body shape as my guitar




I saw a Kay branded Teisco Tulip with the same hardware as my guitar

Very interesting, that design goes back further than I thought. I sort of thought your guitar was the child of the Teisco Tulip. Looks like they were brothers.

So I guess Japan it is.
