Fernandes Guitar

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone was able to help me work out what my guitar is!

I bought and old Fernandes off a band mate of my original guitar teacher but to be honest I don’t really know anything about it. There aren’t any serial numbers on it (something I have learnt-through this forum!- was the case with most old Fernandes guitars).

I have attached a couple of pictures of it if it helps anyone.

Please note that the machine heads and one of the pickups have been replaced since new, hopefully that doesn’t throw anyone!

If anyone knows anything about it or can point me in a direction for further investigation it would be much appreciated!

Hey fender23,

I really can't see much with the small photos, but it looks to me like a Fernandes Strat copy from the early 80s. They had an RST series (Revival Strat) during that period where they produced reproductions of popular Strat models.

Better photos, especially of the headstock decal might enable me to do a better job pinning it down for you. sb

agree with Vintaxe that larger photos will help ? u may have linked thumbnails rather than images.

The headstock writing looks like 1981 revival series like sb says...

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help so far, it's helped me out a lot.

Hopefully the photos work this time. They aren't the best photos but it's all i have on my old computer, I will get some more once my main pc is up again. I am tending to agree with you both. It does look like the 81 revival series, again it's harder to tell with aftermarket parts though.

I had noticed that the earlier Fernandes did have decals very similar to the Fender logo in the 70s but shifted to a new logo in the 80's (i assume around the time they were threatened with lawsuits). This is one clue that points to the early 80's.

Does anyone know what Fernandes guitars were like in general? It's hard to find good information on the company.
