Hi you guys,
I'm hoping you can help me identify a doubleneck i just won on ebay. by the looks of it the 12 string neck is not original although it too has a zero fret - the colour doesnt seem to match? - also the pickups look different - don't know if this was an actual guitar or one which someone has cobbled together at the time? - the pickups and hardware indicate Teisco or similar as do the to zero-fret necks and teh string retainers - does anyone know wht it is please?? )( OK now here is where i try to upload a picture)
cheers
jim

The body looks pretty run of the mill kawai/teisco... but a double-neck?? Bizzare!!!

Hi Jim,

I agree with Michael that the guitars are likely Kawai/Teisco in origin.

I think this instrument is home made. The style of the top guitar doesn't really match the style of the bottom guitar.

This looks like the work of a young man lusting after a double neck but too light in the wallet to do much more than cobble together a couple of inexpensive Japanese guitars.

Have you been able to inspect this guitar to determine how the 2 halves were joined? Has the body been repainted?

Thanks guys,
no, it's not arrived yet - I had a similar thought that someone has joined the two guitars what with the "SG meets Strat" type body - It's not arrived yet so i have not been able to look at it it " hands on" as it were.

Of course once it does get here i shall be stripping it, and hopefully then - all will be revealed - as I had originally wanted a doubleneck with 6 and bass i have already found a Jedson Bass neck etc so it shouldnt be too difficult to convert and at least the headstocks will match!! - should go well with my Zenta and Jedson Basses!! - I will post more photos when i get hold of it!

OK, it has arrived! - I have stripped it down and can see now that it is a very well joined Jedson Telecaster body and a Zenta SG Body ( I have one of each and the pickup cavities match as do the body shapes!
Someone obviously wanted to be Jimmy Page....on a budget!.

The 12 string neck is abysmal as is the nut so that will go on the junk pile!

Still I shall restore it to a 6 string and Bass as I have a spare Jedson Bass neck which fits perfectly - just need a bass bridge and tailpeice along with the bass pickups and i shall be in business. - I suppose i had better keep watching ebay!

The guitars have been expertly joined with dovetail joints ( remember them from school?) - and line up perfectly with no wobble at all - whatever glue they used is far better than the stuff we have these days! - Once i have it back together I shall post pictures of it for you all to laugh / drool at ( delete whichever is not applicable).
