Has anyone ever seen a Truetone like this?

Hello everyone, new here and would like to know if anyone has ever seen one of these guitars. Its a truetone that my dad bought for me back in the mid to late 60's. There is no label on it other than the truetone badge. Also if anyone would have any idea of the value. Thanks for any input.

Hey hammerx1.

Your exact guitar is pictured in the 1966 Truetone catalog I have uploaded in the Catalog Library. It is the guitar featured in a "7 Piece Electric Guitar Outfit" that retailed for 97.77. Did you get the amp, strap, instruction record, etc when you bought yours?

Your guitar was made by Kay and is similar to their Vanguard II models. I've got a couple of these and I think they are fun to play with a thick neck and midrangey tone.

As for value, yours appears to be in nice condition. I haven't priced these in awhile but I'd guess somewhere in the $200-$300 range. Maybe someone has seen one sell recently and can help us tighten up a value estimate.

Thanks for the reply. We bought the amp with it, but it is long gone. I thought the guitar was long gone also, but a recent visit to my dad's I found out he had it in storage (some 30yrs.) in the original vinyl bag which is also in good shape for its age. It has a few nicks and dings but nothing to bad.
