After buying an expensive pup and breaking it trying to carve off the sticking out bit of shoe on the mounting plate am very lucky to have been given a pair locally made vintage pups.
Jansen, from 60's or seventies... I'm told. Some nice folklore round these- they were made by one technician whose quality control depended on how big the weekend was, but midweek pups were good. New Zealand needed them to be made here then cause duties on imported guitars were very prohibitive.

Alnicos of some kind
I guess the magnets buried in the goo. Funny how very different it is to the original.

They both work and give me 7.4 and 7.7 ohms on the multimetre so I guess the hotter one is for the bridge.
However I want to stick them on top of the old mounting plate so I can raise or lower the pups as designed and after having the magnet sat on it for thirty years it has become magnetized itself. Is that going to be a problem? And does help identify the make?
